Q8 Mahler gas engine oils perform extremely well in Caterpillar 3500 engines

That is the conclusion of the analysis of more than 1.000 Q8 Mahler samples in the QRAS database.

The selection of the best engine oil is crucial for the performance of gas engines. Every engine type is different and varies in pressures (BMEP), lube oil consumption, operating temperatures, etc. Q8 Oils has developed a wide-ranging assortment of gas engine oils to meet the specific requirements of each gas engine type.

All these gas engine oils are the result of extensive field experience and testing.

Q8Oils’ QRAS analysis screens lubricant quality

Q8Oils has developed an analysis system to monitor the quality of lubricants. QRAS is short for Kuwait Routine Analysis System and analyses all the key performance elements of the lubricants (TAN, TBN, oxidation, etc.). The QRAS monitoring system detects lubricant deterioration in an early stage, making it possible to prevent problems and possible engine damage. It can help you to optimize your drain intervals, lowering maintenance costs.

We also use the historical data of our QRAS-database to select the right lubricant for any application as it helps to predict and understand the behaviour of a stationary gas engine oil.

Oil performance analysis in Caterpillar 3500 gas engines

Between 1995 and 2020 we have been using the QRAS-analysis to monitor the quality and performance of Q8 Mahler gas engine oils in Caterpillar 3500 gas engines on natural gas.

Our database with routine oil analysis samples of Caterpillar gas engines goes back 25 years, providing a treasure of valuable information.

Q8 Mahler shows excellent results in Caterpillar 3500 gas engines

The graphs below indicate the performance of Q8 Mahler products in Caterpillar 3500 engines:

  • Graphs 1-3: Caterpillar 3500 condition monitoring results (TAN, TBN and Oxidation) for Q8 Mahler G5 SAE 40.

These graphs are based on 39 samples in the QRAS database.

  • Graph 4-6: Caterpillar 3500 condition monitoring results (TAN, TBN and Oxidation) for Q8 Mahler GR5 SAE 40.

These graphs are based on 115 samples in the QRAS database.

  • Graph 7-9: Caterpillar 3500 condition monitoring results (TAN, TBN and Oxidation) for Q8 Mahler MA SAE 40.

These graphs are based on 423 samples in the QRAS database.

Although the results differ from engine to engine, they confirm the excellent performance of Q8 Mahler products in Caterpillar 3500 gas engines. The average drain interval of Q8 Mahler HA in Caterpillar 3500 natural gas engines lies around 2.000 hours and the Q8 Mahler G5 SAE 40 even delivers drain intervals of more than 2.500 hours.
